Spotted : The all New Isuzu MU-X

The New Isuzu MU-X

A while ago this brand offered something called the Frontier, built on a bakkie platform with SUV characteristics, it was a available in a Diesel and V6 Petrol, I loved it despite hideous looks.

While i was doing my errands recently i came across this New MU-X,it was not clad in decals to show that its being tested or hidden, it looked ready to go to a show room floor. I must admit it does look bloody good, the front end is not that far off from the current Isuzu Double cab LX, with the bold chrome grille and LED daytime running lights. The lower bumper is enhanced with chrome inserts around the fog lights, may I add that this now has Xenons or LED headlights.
The side profile boast an aluminium and plastic combination stepping board, chrome door handles and a set 6 split spoke 18″ alloys.

The tail lights stretch over the boot and rear fenders in a bold 2 tone red and white colour scheme. The tail gate is finished with a roof spoiler and longish chrome piece that house registration plate lights and a reversing camera. i quite love ow the logos are done on the rear end, nothing flashing but classy.

The Interior is where it gives it away that it is based on the current LX available on our shores, not that its a bad thing, the steering wheel and cluster are straight from the KB, the cluster benefits from some minor revisions that add more class. The dash and center console are what you would find in the LX with a huge touch screen where the old radio was infused into the dash. The automatic gearlever is surrounded by a high gloss labelled gear marker. At the read it now has an entertainment facility thanks to a roof mounted foldable TV screen. The MU-X is a 7 seater, The leather are the best thing in the interior in my view , in solid black leather with whitish detailed stitching to boot.

The engines seems to be what is in the current 300D Teq, unless its fine tuned to offer more power. I would suggest they fit this with the Trailblazer motor and gearbox, its pure magnificence that thing.

if this is the direction Isuzu is taking then they are in with a winning chance if pricing is perfect or rather competitive, The South African public these bakkie based SUV, great examples are Toyota’s Fortuner, Ford’s Everest. This MU-X received major positive feedback on my social media platforms.
